VISION

"To inculcate the habit of learning chemistry daily with fun and to expose the students to advances in Chemical Sciences, to offer guidance in acquiring both theoretical and practical skills and creating an easygoing &  exceptional learning environment that would groom total personality”.

To be not only an academician but to make many in the arena of higher education by empowering the youth through quality education that would develop intellectually alive, ethically upright and socially responsible citizens, wanting to behave to meet the global challenges of the ever-changing, technology-oriented world."

The Department of Chemistry was established in 1984 along with the inception of college with undergraduate programme  B.Sc. in Biology and Mathematics stream.

Postgraduate programme M.Sc. in the department was introduced in 2015. All courses offered by the department are designed by highly intellectual members of  board of studies of Chemistry, Shaheed Mahendra Karma Vishwavidyalaya, Bastar, according to the needs and demands of current industrial sectors and to make the students competent at local and global level.

With 3 faculties, the department presently caters 480 UG & 50 PG students. Each faculty has specialized knowledge in different branches of Chemistry. Faculty members are active in educational sphere across the state and contribute to academic and research fields in various capacities like resource persons, reviewers, authors, etc.

Trying to facilitate the students of the rural area with real practical knowledge of the syllabi  the faculty members are really trying hard to make it so. Equipped with instrumentation facility, UG & PG laboratories, departmental library and ICT tools, we are counted amongst the best departments for education in Chemistry across the Bastar Division (Also of the University) of Chhattisgarh which provides a comprehensive teaching and research environment in the Chemical Sciences.

The journey from a small department teaching undergraduate students in 1984 to a PG Department from 2015and the only approved research center of chemistry of the University, actively engaged in research activity is a result of coordinated effort of dedicated faculty members.

The department strives to achieve its prime objective - to produce and train technical and scientific personnel of the highest order of excellence having scientific aptitude.
